Keep claimed ownership, documented custody and observed location separate. Make unknowns as visible as confirmations.

Connect each record to its source and date. A photograph, a release and a receipt support different parts of the history.

A tool leaves Factory Alpha for Factory Beta. There’s a release record, but no destination receipt yet.
The honest answer is “in transit.” The record should keep that uncertainty visible until a matching receipt supports the next step.
